You can really be brought back to the ‘Rag Time’ era with this in your hands.ĭon’t Miss Out on an opportunity to own a beautiful piece of Americana. It has that incredible vintage Cornet feel, and sound, that musicians expect and crave to find on these old horns. That brings us to how the instrument plays. There is just a minor ding on the 2nd valve slide crook, and the knuckle coming out of the 3rd slide into the main tuning slide hs pushed in slightly. The bell is in beautiful condition, and the elegant engraving is stunning and crisp. It does look like the bell was re-attached slightly tipped down, but the instruments does not show any signs of damage or flaws otherwise.

(This would explain why the bell was removed, to ensure the highest quality of repair service and any dent removal on the bell bow. The bracing for the bell does appears to have been re-soldered, and it appears the bell bow has had some minor repair work. The plating is in very nice condition, and has some typical typical signs of wear in areas around where you’d expect from holding the instrument. It wears an original and stunning gold plated finish. This instrument is in absolutely remarkable condition. Who played this instrument? What venues was it performed in? What music has been expressed and amplified through the tubing and bell? Such fascinating things to consider. This instrument literally lived through some of the most exciting times for American music. When I have the opportunity to handle a vintage instrument such as the one you are bidding on here, I can’t help but think of the stories it could tell. This instrument was actually built before Jazz started becoming popular in the 1920’s! American ragtime music had been sweeping across areas of the South in the United States from the late 1890’s Jazz was being born at the turn of the century. Just a few years before this instrument was made the Wright Brothers took their first flight. This instrument was made at a particularly awesome time in history for the world. We may never see a company as dedicated to serve our industry as we had with the original C.G.
